Q. What exactly do you mean by “sex on top of a bridge?”
A. Well, let’s break it down:
The bridge: it must have some kind of superstructure. As in, the place where you have sex is higher than the place where you would walk, drive, or ride the train over.
The sex: the Sex on Bridges club is not too hung up on the question of what exactly constitutes “sex.” If both participants could say in good conscience “yeah, I got laid yesterday” if it had happened in the bedroom, then it counts.
On top of: the Sex on Bridges club does have strict criteria for where on the bridge the sex must happen in order to qualify as a member. The sex must take place a) outdoors and b) on the highest possible point where you could conceivably have sex relatively safely.
Disputes: in the event of a dispute, the dispute will be referred to the Charter Membership. A majority vote of those responding will be necessary for admission.
Q. Is it safe to have sex on bridges?
A. Well, no, not really. In fact, it’s generally not that safe to climb bridges. But it’s not that safe to do a lot of things. The Sex on Bridges club does not encourage people to go beyond what is reasonably within their personal abilities and safety zone. It is not worth dying to have sex on a bridge (except maybe the Golden Gate).
Q. Is it legal to have sex on bridges?
A. Well, check the laws of your particular jurisdiction, but we’d imagine the answer is no. Arrest is certainly a risk while both climbing bridges and having sex on a municipally owned public structure. However, anyone arrested attempting to have sex on a bridge will automatically be considered members of the Sex on Bridges club, even if their attempt was thwarted.
The Sex on Bridges club highly encourages every member to be proud of their accomplishment. However, we understand if people wish to remain anonymous, and are willing to obscure your faces, and list you by your initials or as “anonymous” in our Hall of Fame.
Q. Why in the world would anyone want to have sex on a bridge?
A. Well, climbing bridges is a lot of fun. And sex is a lot of fun. So it follows that sex on bridges is a whole lot of fun. And even if it isn’t, the bragging rights are a lot better than the Mile-High club.
Q. Is the Sex on Bridges club queer-friendly?
A. Yes, the Sex on Bridges club is queer-friendly, and encourages queer and non hetero-normative sex on bridges.
Q. Can I enter the Sex on Bridges club solo?
A. No. While masturbation and solo-sex on bridges is not discouraged, it does not qualify for membership in the Sex on Bridges club.
Q. Can I enter the Sex on Bridges club with more than two people?
A. Yes. In fact, anyone who has sex with more than one other person at once on top of a bridge will be consider a charter member of the Sex on Bridges club, even if they aren’t the first people we know of to have sex on that particular bridge.
Q. Is there Sex on Bridges merchandise?
A. Not currently, and all future merchandise will be reserved for our members only.
